    In 1992, I began an internship at Ozanam Home for boys as I was studying for a Masters Degree in Social Welfare.

    In 1994, I resumed my internship with Ozanam Home for Boys.

    1993's break from reality brought about an opportunity to work with KanWork of Kansas City, Kansas' Social and Rehabilitation Services.

  • Trinity Lutheran Pre-Adolescent and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit

    1997 brought a rewturn to the School of Social Welfare with an internship at a pre-adolescent and adolescent psychiatric unit with Holly Andres.

    The years  between my internship from Ozanam Home for Boys and Trinity Lutheran Psychiatric Hospital allowed me to tell my story through poetry and creative writing classes at Johnson County Community College.

    After my significant other experienced a brain trauma, I went through treatment at Shawnee Mission Medical Center during the years of 1997.

What is so Important about Teaching the Way

of Social Welfare

I believe one who has experienced the stress of mental illness can best teach the core and fundamental tenants of social welfare. 

Since 1993, I have experienced mental illness.  I have been able to recover with ebbs and flow to my journey.  I currently hold a Master of Social Welfare Degree.  I as well have an Associates Degree in Web Graphics Design.

I believe with my history in employment with Social and Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health Association of the Heartland, and Johnson County Mental Health are Exemplary examples of why I should be considered.
 
OBJECTIVE:

I Hope to Attain an Internship

with a Stipend

I hope to assist staff of the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare  as well as Advocacy provided through  Mental Health America of the Heartland, MHAH.org,  by offering volunteer work and an internship.
